Women Wordsmiths And Christmas By Anshuparni Biswas

SANTA’S CAROL

The fruity blossom blew in the air
The school children knew it’s winter;
Warmth of sweater came through the hands of mother-
Tiffin boxes shared the joy one after another.
Class monitor stepped forward as a powerful orator
Something sparked in the little eyes like the excitement of a creator;
It’s time to decorate the Christmas tree with all tiny lives-
Before our beloved Santa arrives.
Before the jingle bells
Before the Christmas carols,
Before sharing the pudding
Before Santa’s stake of alluring,
Before celebrating the twenty fourth eve-
Spreading the joy and love knotting down the threads of weave.
